White Lady Chardonnay
Top 6% wine in the world
Blend: 100% Chardonnay
From: South Africa, Stellenbosch WO
By: Ratcliffe family @ Warwick Estate
This is a well reviewed Chardonnay from the Warwick Estate in Stellenbosch, near Cape Town. The grapes are grown on vines aged between 24 and 26 years old, hand picked at sunrise, and left to ferment with indigenous yeasts before being aged in French oak barrels.
The Warwick Estate is a family owned and run operation, now in its third generation. Wines are created by the resident winemaker, Nic Van Aarde who studied Viticulture and Oenology at university and travelled the world to expand his knowledge. There is an environmentally friendly approach to works at the Warwick Estate, with minimal intervention in the vineyard and works to achieve greater biodiversity, including the creation of a conservation area and a tree planting programme. Fine Lady Chardonnay can be enjoyed now or kept for up to ten years.
