Villalobos Carignan Reserva
Top 5% wine in the UK
Blend: 100% Carignan
From: Chile, Colchagua Valley AO
By: Villalobos family @ The Wild Vineyard
Villalobos Carignan Reserve is a medium bodied red from a family owned vineyard in the Colchagua Valley, close to the Chilean coast – previously occupied and mismanaged by horses. The grapes for Villalobos Carignan Reserve are manually harvested and aged for twelve months in old oak barrels.
The Wild Vineyard takes biodynamic viticulture to a whole new level. The vineyard was rescued from grape munching horses by the Villalobas family who wanted to make wine for family and friends. The vineyard is still wild, with vines growing in amongst blackberry bushes and brambles, up trees – wherever they like really. But the Villalobas discovered a talent for winemaking, and went into commercial production. (The horses are still there, they are in charge of the pruning.)
Vivino users rate it a top wine with a stunning 3.9!
