Sagrantino Di Montefalco
Top 8% wine in the UK
Blend: 100% Sagrantino
From: Italy, Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG
By: Lungarotti family
Lungarotti, 100% sagrantino grape, fermented in stainless steel and left 28 days in contact with the skins (quite a long time compared to the average red wine process) then aged for 12 months in barrique. A beautiful deep ruby red wine. Intense on the nose, an abundance of complex red fruits (black cherry, bilberry) with elegant notes of cocoa and sweet spices, long lasting and harmonious scents. The palate is really deep and long lasting, powerful structure with good concentration and freshness of fruit, fragrant acidity and dense, mature, tannins. This wine has the potential to age for a very long time.
Lungarotti, a winery with a fairytale story. It is said that the Sagrantino grape was named by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia after his precious sacred falcon was saved with a medicine based on Montefalco wine (lucky falcon). Known to be the variety with the highest polyphenol content in the world and has a strong antioxidant effect (when consumed in moderation, of course!).
Vivino users rate it a top wine with a stunning 3.8!
