Rosso Di Montefalco
Blend: 60% Sangiovese + 25% Merlot + 15% Sagrantino
From: Italy, Montefalco DOC
By: Lungarotti family
The lengthly maturing process of Sagrantino means that it needs a considerable amount longer and therefor is harvested in late October. Once the harvest has taken place the wine spends 28 days in contact with the skins, which give it the wonderful rich and ruby red colour. The wine is complex and intense on the nose with hints of quinine, sweet spices and cinnamon. A long lasting palate of red berries with a finish of toasted yeastiness.
Rosso di Montefalco a rich, fruity ruby red wine made from 60% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot and 15% Sagrantino grapes. Grown on the Lungarotti estate in Umbria, Central Italy. Both the Sangiovese and Merlot grapes are harvested in mid September.
The Lungarotti is a traditional family business, started in the 50’s with Georgio and now is run by his 3 daughters. Their passion for this land and its traditions shows in its wine, and the Lungarotti winery is today probably the biggest Umbrian wine ambassador in the world.
