Top 6% wine in the world
Aromatic white wine
Blend: 100% Riesling
From: France, Vin d’Alsace AOC
By: Pierre & Louis Rolly-Gassmann
Rolly Gassmann is known for making a richer style of wine than other estates in Alsace, and this Riesling is no exception. It is made from grapes grown in the village of Rorschwihr, and has enough residual sugar to be considered off-dry, with flavours of grapefruit, lime, honey and spice.
The Rolly and Gassmann families have been making wine in Alsace since the 17th century, and were joined by marriage in the 1970s. They farm some 45 hectares of land around the village using biodynamic principles, although this is often dependent on the conditions of the vintage.
The Riesling is picked by hand and fermented with natural yeasts before being aged in large, neutral oak barrels.
