Pinot Grigio Falluga
Top 5% wine in the UK
Blend: 100% Pinot Gris
From: Italy, Colli Orientali DOC
By: Livio Felluga
The pinot grigio is vinificated and aged in steel for 6 months then refined in bottle for a further two. Deep straw in colour with a complex and deep nose, starting with apricot, melon and nectarine, evolving into mineral notes. The palate is intense and dry, round bodied with mineral notes balanced with warm summery fruits.
Pinot grigio is certainly the most famous grape in the world thanks to Friulli Venezia Giulia and the Felluga family are certainly considered one of the most “aristocratic” wine producers in Italy. Livio began making wine in the 50’s and today the family are 5th generation winemakers. Enduring two world wars (the second fought by Livio himself) and the movement of borders. Meaning that Livio Felluga has been both Italian and Austrian over the years. But family never moved from the land they loved and have always continued to make wonderful wine regardless of the situation surrounding them.
