Nobile di Montepulciano is made from 100% Prugnolo Gentile grapes (clone of Sangiovese), vinificated in steel tanks and aged 50% in Slavonian wood and 50% in French oak barriques before another 12 months in the the bottle. On the nose, an intense fruity and floral bouquet with notes of cherry, sun-dried tomatoes and raspberries. Complex and intense on the palate with notes of red fruit balanced with smooth tannins leading to a long lasting finish of black pepper.
The tradition of wine making for the Folonari family dates back to the end of the 18th century. After the WWII, the economic situation was improving in Italy and Ambrogio Folonari saw the opportunity and decided to take advantage by improving the quality of his wines targeting the high end customers. Today the family own many different estates aways located in the best area for appellation.
