Montefalco Riserva Pipparello
Top 2% wine in the world
Blend: 60% Sangiovese + 25% Montepulciano + 15% Sagrantino
From: Italy, Montefalco DOC
By: Paolo Bea
A blend of Sangiovese, Montepulciano and a little Sagrantino for this deep garnet coloured wine. The nose is rich of blackberries and blueberries with notes of chocolate and leather at the end. The palate is intense and wide, well balanced between good acidity and a smooth and round tannin.
Paolo Bea’s winery, Pipparello, is located in Montefalco, in the heart of centre Italy next to Perugia. His family have deep roots with the land winemaking dating back as far as the 16th century. Paolo took over the winery in 1973 with his own philosophy. To use as few chemicals as possible and create sustainable harvesting in total respect of nature. His wines are a perfect representation of the land with great character in every bottle. But due to the unpredictable behaviour of the climate the yield is often low so the amount of bottles is sometimes limited.
