Mentor Excellence Cabernet Sauvignon
Top 6% wine in the world
Blend: 98% Cab Sauvignon + 1% Malbec + 1% Syrah
From: Australia, Barossa Valley
By: Peter Lehmann
Named for the creator, Peter Lehmann who has mentored many a winegrower in Australia’s Barossa Valley. This is a full bodied red created from Cabernet Sauvignon with a small helping of Malbec and Syrah grapes, aged for fifteen months in French oak hogsheads. Commended at the Decanter 2115 wine awards.
Peter Lehmann works with growers across the Barossa valley, selecting grapes from 750 vineyards. The grapes for Mentor Cabernet Sauvignon were selected from old vineyards which produce low yields. Peter Lehmann, the ‘Baron of the Barossa’ has been making wine since 1947, when winegrowers suffered from a glut of grapes which they couldn’t sell. Peter stepped in, taking the grapes, making the wine and paying the growers when the wine was sold. This helped saved many old vines from ruin.
