Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Ribbonwood
Top 8% wine in the UK
Blend: 98% Sauvignon Blanc + 2% Gewürztraminer
From: New Zealand, Marlborough
By: Andrew Hedley @ Ribbonwood
Created from Sauvignon Blanc grapes with a helping handful of Gewurztraminer grapes, this is a light-bodied mineral white deemed very drinkable by reviewers. Ribbonwood Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc comes from a boutique winery in the Wairau Valley, home to the native Ribbonwood tree.
The Ribbonwood vineyard and winery are tended by Andrew Hedley, a Brit who moved abroad to pursue his passion for winemaking. Sustainability is the name of the game on the vineyard: Andrew and his team have planted Ribbonwoods and other native tree species to help the land’s water system and maintain biodiversity, and wines are sold in low-weight bottles and recycled cartons. Grapes for the Sauvignon Blanc are grown on fifteen year-old vines and are manually harvested.
