Blend: 40% Grenache + 20% Tibouren + 15% Syrah + 15% Cinsault + 10% Carignan
From: France, Côtes de Provence AOC
By: Chevalier Torpez
This easy-going rose from the village of Saint-Tropez in the south of France is made for sipping under a palm tree on a warm summer’s afternoon. Made in the village itself from a blend of grenache, syrah, cinsault, carignan and a rare variety called tibouren, it is a light, fresh rose with flavours of redcurrant and cranberry, and a rounded mouthfeel.
The wine is made by Chevalier Torpez, a co-operative based in Saint-Tropez. Grapes come from around 20 vineyards surrounding the village, where the influence of the Mediterranean sea is all-encompassing. Here, sandy granite soils and ocean breezes help with the development of flavour in the grapes.
The grapes are hand-harvested, and then are cold-soaked for five days before fermentation, which takes place in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel. Made in Saint-T is fined and filtered, and is not oaked.
