Les Costières de Pomerols Sauvignon Blanc
Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
From: France, Languedoc
By: Joel Jullien & Graeme Paul @ Baron de Badassière
The Baron de Badassiere estate specialises in making excellent value wines from some of France’s most famous grape varieties, and this zesty, refreshing sauvignon blanc is no exception. Floral, citrus aromas lead through to a palate with plenty of lemon and green apple, with a touch of ripe peach.
The grapes for this wine are grown in sandy soils on the south coast of France, where breezes from the Mediterranean help cool the vineyards, ensuring a long, slow ripening period. Grapes are picked in the middle of the night to ensure freshness, and are pressed immediately.
The wine is fermented in stainless steel and bottled without the use of oak.
While the region is better known for its Picpoul de Pinet wines, this sauvignon blanc offers an excellent alternative to other white wines from the region.
