Karasì Areni Noir
Top 4% wine in the world
Blend: 100% Areni Noir
From: Armenia, Vayots Dzor
By: Zorik Gharibian @ Zorah
A bold wine from the Transcaucus – the birthplace of viticulture. Made from Areni grapes grown in the Yeghegnadzor Valley on the lower slopes of Mount Ararat, and a stone’s throw away from what is believed to be the oldest winery in the world, dating back 6,100 years. This is a full bodied red aged in wooden, and underground amphorae.
Zorah Gharibian was born to an Armenian family who fled the country in 1915. He moved to Italy and built a successful fashion business which gave him the funds to return home and invest in land and a winery. The wines are made under the watchful eye of Alberto Antonini – also a pioneer of Argentinian Malbec. Zorah wishes to create beautiful wines which expose Armenian winemaking to the rest of the world.
