Blend: 75% Cab Sauvignon + 10% Carménère + 10% Syrah + 5% Malbec
From: Chile, Colchagua Valley AO
By: Viña los Vascos
Created from a heady blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Syrah and Carmenere grapes from a hillside vineyard in Chile’s Colchagua Valley, expertly managed by the Rothschild family. This is a popular, full bodied red that has won a number of regional awards.
Vines have been thriving in Chile since their introduction by Spanish conquistadores in the sixteenth century. The Los Vascos estate was purchased by the Rothschild family in 1988 and given an overhaul: a modern winery, and a replanting programme that saw lower, better quality yields. The grapes for the Grande Reserve are manually harvested and aged for twelve months in oak barrels. Grande Reserve is filtered and fined.
