Côtes Du Rhône Mon Coeur
Top 5% wine in the UK
Blend: 45% Grenache + 40% Syrah + 10% Cinsault + 5% Mourvedre
From: France, Côtes Du Rhône AOC
By: Jean-Louis & Erin @ JL Chave Selection
J.L. Chave is best known for its prestigious wines from the hill of Hermitage, but the negociant arm of the family business makes excellent wines as well. Mon Coeur is the sole Cotes du Rhône wine of the domaine, made from a fairly equal blend of grenache and syrah, with a small amount of mourvedre and cinsault. It is a ripe, full-bodied red wine with elegant tannins, and shows notes of red and black fruit with a touch of peppery spice.
Grapes for the wine are sourced from several key Cotes du Rhône villages, including Vinsobres and Cairanne. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented using indigenous yeasts, and the resultant wine is aged for 12-15 months in old oak barrels.
The Chave family have been making wines in the Rhône Valley for 500 years, and Mon Coeur is a cut above other Cotes du Rhône wines, for both its heritage and its character.
Vivino users rate it a top wine with a stunning 3.9!
