Chateau Plaisance Classique Rouge
Blend: 62% Négrette + 28% Syrah + 10% Cabernet Franc
From: France, Vin Fronton AOC
By: Penavayre family @ Château Plaisance
The Penavayre family have been tending their family vineyards in Gascony for over two centuries and this Classique Rouge displays their expertise; a smooth red with a liquorice finish. Aromatically, a glass of Classique Rouge is akin to putting your nose into a cherry clafoutis (a cherry dessert in case you didn’t know).
Since the 1870s, the Penavayre family have been hard at work in the picturesque village of Vacquiers, farming livestock, tending orchards and of course making wine. The family now concentrate on the vines, which are at the highest reaches of their farm. Classique Rouge is formed from a blend of three grapes: Négrette, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are fermented with wild yeasts and aged for eighteen months before bottling.
