A sparkling blend of Xarel. Lo, Macabeo and Parellada from the high foothills of the Penedés , considered to be the birthplace of Cava (the Catalan word for cellar). Cava came to prominence at the end of the nineteenth century when the phylloxera disease ravaged French vineyards and the wine-thirsty French had to look elsewhere.
The grapes for the Mas De La Basserola Cava Brut are grown on a family run vineyard, tended without the use of pesticides or fertilisers. The harvest is quite late in the season to make sure that the grapes have reached their full maturity. The vineyard maintains a low yield to maintain quality. This aromatic cava is aged for four months in oak barrels.
