Callabriga Douro Tinto
Top 4% wine in the world
Blend: 70% Touriga Franca + 20% Touriga Nacional + 10% Tinta Roriz
From: Portugal, Douro
By: Luis Sottomayor @ Casa Ferreirinha
A seductive Tempranillo from the Douro region of Portugal, famous for being the home of Port. However, this riverside appellation deserves recognition for its non-fortified wine too – and the Callabriga Douro Tinto has won a plethora of awards, including a gold at the Mundus Vini and a silver at the TEXSOM International Wine Awards.
Callabriga Douro Tinto comes from vines on the historic Casa Ferreirinha’s Quinta da Leda estate, now owned by Sogrape, a wine giant headed by talented winemaker Luis Sottomayor. Grapes for the 2014 Callabriga Douro Tinto were picked from different sections of the estate and taken to the state of the art winery. The grapes for this acclaimed wine were aged for between twelve and eighteen months; the final blend carefully selected and lightly filtered before bottling.
