Blanc De Morgex Et De La Salle
Blend: 100% Prié Blanc
From: Italy, Valle d’Aosta DOC
By: Mario Vevey @ Maison Albert Vevey
Prié Blanc is an indigenous grape harvested from some of the highest vineyards in Europe, The wine is a beautiful bright straw yellow, with a delicate and long lasting nose of alpine flowers, flint and mountain herbs. Surprising dry palate with beautiful acidity, layers of flowery and citric notes in rapid evolution. Amazing.
Making wines in this region is certainly challenging but for the Maison Vevey Albert it is a tradition. Vineyards up to 45% gradient steep and harvested manually in a climate of frequent snow and early and late season frosts. As Mario Vevey says, “you can not command mother nature but you can learn how to follow her.” Very low production for this white, the grapes come from the two villages of Morgex and La Salle, facing Monte Bianco, the highest mountain in Europe. On the label of every bottle is an old family portrait of a woman in a traditional costume which represents the family. The Morgex bell tower which represents the the village in which the wine comes from and Monte Bianco on the background which represents the strength of mother nature.
