Biodynamic Petit Verdot
Blend: 100% Petit Verdot
From: Australia, Riverland
By: Bill Downie
Bill Downie is rather modest about his wines, which he says ‘make themselves’. The Petit Verdot vines grow on a biodynamic vineyard situated on the Murray River close to the pragmatically named town of New Residence. Grapes are harvested in the cool evenings and fermented with indigenous yeasts.
Even if they do make themselves, Bill Downie is famous for his wines, grown on his vineyards in Australia’s Riverland region. Bill established his own label in 2003, after working in vineyards in Burgundy. He quickly established a name for himself and was singled out as Australia’s top young winemaker in 2006. Since then Bill has continued to pour love and Australian practicality into his vineyard. Petit Verdot is a medium bodied red, fined but unfiltered.
