Leon Barral Faugeres Tradition
Top 6% wine in the world
Blend: 50% Carignan + 30% Grenache + 20% Cinsault
From: France, Faugeres AOC
By: Domaine Didier Barral
This is a wine that promises to get you close, or even closer, to nature. A heady mix of Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvedre and Syrah grapes, fermented to the sound of Gregorian chanting, Faugeres Tradition is a meaty red with game and gravy flavours that would turn a venison supper into something truly special.
Clos Fantine is a family vineyard owned and run by the three Andrieu siblings: Olivier tends the vines, Carole tends the paper work and Corinne, a qualified oenologist, makes the wine. The vineyard is managed with minimal interference and with the utmost respect for nature. The grapes for Faugeres are manually harvested and then fermented with indigenous yeast to the sounds of Gregorian chanting. Apparently, the grapes like that.
