Barolo Di Serralunga
Top 4% wine in the world
Blend: 100% Nebbiolo
From: Italy, Barolo DOCG
By: Ferdinando Principiano
The Nebbiolo grapes are ripened on young vines on the 3.5 hectares of land surrounding the valley of Boscareto in Serralunga d’Alba. Deep garnet in colour with ruby tones, the nose is balanced between fruity and flowery notes, raspberry, cherry, red roses with a spicy finish. A very deep palate with nice tannins, good acidity with a great long lasting vanilla finish.
Ferdinando continues the old family tradition of wine making in Serralunda d’Alba (Piedmont), in the western region of Northern Italy. But only in 1993 did he start to bottle his own wine. Beginning with traditional harvesting methods, using chemicals to aid growth he soon he realised the terrible and unhealthy impact they had on him and on his vineyard. This led him to transforming production to be clean and healthy, strictly using only natural treatments, mechanical cleaning processes involving as little human interaction as possible. It certainly paid off. After many years of natural harvesting the vines are stronger, healthier and the quality of the wine is outstanding.
