282 Pinot Noir
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir
From: South Africa, Elgin ridge
By: Marion & Brian Smith @ Elgin Ridge
Elgin Ridge lies high on a mountain in Elgin Valley 282 metres above sea level where the winters are cold and the summers are warm. Pinot Noir 282 is a light bodied red, fermented with wild yeasts and aged for ten months in French oak barrels.
British couple Marion and Brian Smith hunted high and low to find their perfect vineyard and finally settled on Elgin Valley, a lush agricultural region famous for apples. Brian and Marion’s vineyard grows Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes, all tended organically: vines are untouched by chemicals, rows are ploughed by horse and pest control is carried out by ducks! Pinot noir 282 is lightly filtered but not fined.
