Top 10% wine in the UK
Blend: Grenache + Carignan + Alicante Bouschet
From: Italy, Toscana IGP
By: Erica & Peter @ Societa Agricola Ampeleia
“Un Litro” means literally one litre in Italian and this wine has a unique glass bottle of 1 litre. Proudly made in Tuscany with Mediterranean grapes such as Grenache, Carignan and Alicante Bouschet in variable percentages. Ruby red in colour with a fruity nose of mediterranean herby notes. The palate is fresh, mineral and dry.
Agricola Ampeleia was born in 2002 from a friendship and common vision between Elisabetta Foradori, Thomas Widmann, and Giovanni Podini. Their dream was to create wines that represented the surrounding Tuscan coastline. Combining the expertise and the knowledge of Elisabetta (known producer of Trentino) and the passion of Thomas and Giovanni they saw Maremma as a place where they could not only develop an agricultural project but also fulfil their common vision. The project aspires to represent the inherent diversity and huge potential of this particular area, which are not the coastal lowlands usually associates with the Maremma, but mineral-rich hills that have been mined in the past.
